Welcome to the striving4mediocrity blog! Thank you for visiting. First, I would like to start with the central theme for the concept behind the blog:

[ahy-ruh-nee, ahy-er-] –noun, plural: -nies.

1.the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning

This same theme has permeated my sense of humor since I first developed one as a young’n. So years ago, as my mind wondered things like, “If practice makes perfect, but nobody is perfect, then why practice?” (and assorted other thoughts, as my mind does from time to time), I thought about my own aspirations and interests in life vis-à-vis my perception of the general state of pop culture, the internet and people in general (at least in the U.S.) Since I have always been fascinated by different ads and tag lines on TV and in the media, I came up with “striving 4 mediocrity” as a cynical sort of inside joke to characterize the generally topical experience I think many people have in the world.

I am also intensely curious about the world. As such, I will try through features on this blog such as Melodic Mondays, Foodie Fridays, Picture of the Moment, and intriguing or funny Quote[s] of the Day, to post news articles, music, funny pictures, and places to visit in this big world of ours that I find interesting and hope you will, too. I invite you to leave comments below and on any individual posts you happen upon.
